Home Grounds Episode 1 with Will Jackways
At the beginning of the year an idea popped into my head to shoot a show on my very own home resort and its team riders. After a few skype conversations it seemed that I could turn the concept into a reality and make something really unique happen. I’m stoked to be able to give back to my home hill, and share everything that makes riding at your home resort so much fun. Although there isn’t a lot of snow at the moment, Will J proved how good he is at free riding and made a few small pockets of snow work. I was testing out the 5DMKII with Juicedlink audio box, and sony wireless mics on this ep, they proved to be worth there weight in gold. The official press release is as follows, with pictures from Pablo Azocar.
Cardrona Alpine Resort has launched a new video series giving viewers a unique insight into where it all began for some of New Zealand’s best skiers and snowboarders.
Home Grounds is a series profiling the ski area’s sponsored team riders including Jossi Wells, Byron Wells, Will Jackways, Stef Zeestraten and Shelly Gotlieb as they show off their favourite parts of the mountain and their history with the resort.
After many months of planning the first of the high definition episodes shot by top Kiwi snow filmmaker Tim Pierce has been released today.
“My aim in producing this series is to share all of the best parts of Cardrona, the riders’ funny stories, their favourite lines, their secret stashes and really portray what riding at your home resort is all about” says Mr Pierce.
Cardrona Sales and Marketing Manager Nadia Ellis says this is the first time a ski area in New Zealand has profiled their team riders in this kind of format.
“Home Grounds gives people a behind-the-scenes look into the mountain and the place that helped these skiers and riders become some of the world’s best,” she says.
“We are very fortunate to have secured top cinematographer Tim Pierce from Zeros&Ones to shoot Home Grounds. Tim has worked with some of the largest ski and snowboard companies as well as on popular local production Winter of Wells (WOW), which can now be seen on Air New Zealand flights.”
