Above is ‘Blip’ my entry for the Wanaka Film Trust, Gone in 60 SecondsII film competition. The only rule was that the film must be 60 seconds in length. The competition is to encourage fun film making within the local community. There were 18 entry’s which showed a lot of great creativity and imagination. Included in this internet upload is some extra out takes, and a different colour grade.
My inspiration to make this came from being at the super market and getting extremely pissed off with the ‘blip’ sounds at the check out. I decided it’d be fun to make a short about someone getting stuck with that ‘blip’ sound. The film comp gave me the perfect excuse, so Bevan Hall and I took about an hour to walk around Wanaka ( on the afternoon before deadline ) and film different movements to work with the ‘blips’.
This film won the competition with Best Movie, and also the ’60 seconds of spirit award’ Wholp!
