Water Skiing, Lake Wanaka Style // Shortest Day – June 22

[vimeo https://vimeo.com/44594688 w=750&h=422]

Whilst having a coffee at one of my local haunts, a friends old man (Garry Tweedie) let me in on a cracker of a story – For the past 11 years or so, himself and his friends go out water skiing on the shortest day of the year – June 22. Garry suggested that I should come and film it – the result being the above video. It was very refreshing to shoot, and a true visual slice of the kiwi lifestyle and attitude. Mulled wine, rum in hip flasks, braziers, sausages on the beach, and water skiing under the snow capped mountains – very unique! Big props to Andy Bamford on the colour grade, sound mix and titles which pulled it all together nicely. My friends over at Stuff also featured this in national news – http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7165830/Wanaka-waterskiers-winter-dip

Kiwi Camping

As winter holds its grip on us in New Zealand, I can’t help but slip into summer dreaming. Here’s some images from one of NZ’s classic inner city camp sites at Takapuna Beach, Auckland.

Redbull Flowhunters extended teaser

At the start of last month I posted the teaser for the Red Bull Flow Hunters – now a second extended teaser has just been released. I was operating the Shot-Over gimbal for this project. We ferried a chopper up from Queenstown to Hokitika to shoot for a day. I managed to catch the full length Flow Hunters feature on Sky with my old man, and was stoked on the show, lots of drama packed in there! Make sure you check it out.

Sydney June 2012 – Travel Images

My favourite genre of photography has become travel photography. I am inspired the most, the first time I see a new location or subject & love nothing more than exploring on foot with my camera in a foreign country.

My camera gives me a reason to travel and explore to locations that I would otherwise never see. When I return to my home the images that I’ve captured ignite my memories and give me the ability to share them with others. Of course, they also spark my next trip.

Last week I spent 6 days in Sydney. I was attending the Mumbrella360 conference (which was a blast) doing some meetings and catching up with friends. I thoroughly recommend a good look around Sydney. From the beaches of Manly & Bondi through to the hustle of the CBD, there is plenty on offer.

Ere’s a few images that I enjoyed taking:
